Mariano Alcaniz

Greetings, I am Mariano Alcañiz, Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Director of the Human-Tech Research Institute at the Polytechnic University of Valencia.

My academic and professional pursuits centre on integrating artificial intelligence and extended reality (XR) to advance the quality of life across diverse applications.

In addition, I lead LABLENI, a pioneering laboratory dedicated to exploring the potential of immersive technologies to deepen our understanding of human cognition and enhance its capacity.

Throughout my career, I have been honoured to direct numerous research initiatives spanning clinical psychology, neurodevelopmental disorders, consumer neuroscience, organizational neuroscience, education, and professional training. I have collaborated extensively with respected institutions such as the European Commission and the Spanish Research Agency.

Outside the lab, I am an animal lover—especially when it comes to my dog- and love hitting the road on my bike.
